Belmond Las Casitas, Colca Canyon

Las Casitas is a luxury property in the heart of the Colca Valley, just a few kilometres from the small town of Chivay. The hotel has just 20 casitas (small houses), all beautifully decorated with private terraces, working fireplaces, humidifiers in the room to moisten the air and aid sleep and they all have a private hot tub on their terraces, as well as having an indoor and outdoor shower in the bathroom, private herb garden for teas and bath scents. The casitas offer rustic luxury and complete privacy with in the 24-hectare property. As well as the beautiful rooms, the hotel also offers plenty of outdoor spaces where guests can relax. The hotel is completely organic and has its own vegetable garden, green houses, its own chickens producing fresh eggs daily and even its own bees for honey. Cooking courses are offered to guests who are interested, as well as riding excursions, fishing in the hotels’ ponds and pisco making demonstrations. La Casitas also caters for families and children can spend the morning helping to look after the animals, there are also cows and sheep, picking the fresh vegetables for the day and collecting eggs. In the main building, which is a converted farmhouse there is the main restaurant and Pisco bar. The extensive grounds provide nature and bird watching walks and fantastic views across the Colca Canyon. This is a first-class hotel in a beautiful setting and requires at least two nights to be able to take it all in and enjoy it properly.
